Dear ARML Coach,

We welcome you with great pleasure to the 32nd Annual American Region Mathematics League competition. This much anticipated event will take place at Penn State University, the University of Iowa, and the site of the University of Nevada at Las Vegas concurrently on June 1st and 2nd, 2007.

Registration for ARML will begin on April 4, 2007. Coaches will be able to register their team and submit most forms via our registration website which is linked to www.arml.com. If you participated in the online registration process last year, you will be able to retrieve your information and update it for the competition this year. If you did not register online last year, you can create a username and password for the purpose of registering your team, providing contact information, and submitting housing forms, etc. In addition, you will be able to edit this information right up to the deadline, at which time the editing feature will be disabled. We will not be accepting the paper registration that we have used in the past. You must register online.

The ARML competition continues to grow. In 2006, there were 113 teams. This year, we are planning on 120-125. As of now, Kentucky and Arizona will bring a team, and both San Diego and Colorado will bring an additional team. The BIG news is that Columbia, South America will bring one team (and add an additional team for the next four years) and Kazakhstan will bring two teams. Both countries will compete at Penn State. Also, two independent schools from Turkey will partner and compete via the internet.

ARML is still in an expansion mode and will be looking for contacts in other states or regions for the purpose of developing teams to participate in future competitions. We are especially interested in teams from Arkansas, Kansas, and Oklahoma. If you are aware of colleagues in other states or regions who might be interested, please do not hesitate to have them contact one of us on the executive board.

Please be aware that geographic boundaries of each team must be precisely defined prior to the contest. Any contiguous geographic area that does not overlap that of another team is permissible as a team boundary. If there are any questions regarding the registration packet, please contact the appropriate site coordinator.

For information concerning SAT on June 2nd, please see the SAT Information link on our web site. Lastly, for AMC and AIME scores you can send an e-mail to amcinfo@unl.edu. At this address you can get the student names, addresses and their score ranking forwarded to you.

Sincerely,

J. Bryan Sullivan
ARML President
